Project Description

I am a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts and an Enterprise Architect with Wachovia. I am working to execute a service project and require a partnership to complete some of the programming aspects. Currently, I am providing web and email services for the Apache District and have all of the infrastructure components in-place: hardware, hosting, and network to begin design/development. The use of Open Source in private and corporate in a free market economy enables faster development cycles, better code, at a significantly reduced cost. I am the Technology Chairman for the Apache District in the Mecklenburg County Council and an Enterprise Architect with Wachovia. I am working to execute a service project and require a partnership to complete some of the programming aspects. Currently, I am providing web and email services for the Apache District and have all of the infrastructure components in-place: hardware, hosting, and network to begin design/development. The project would be to design/develop an event registration and reporting system. Write the program to do one or all of the following: First, list the country number and/or country name of the counties that contain a circle. If the sectors of a circle occur in two or more counts, count all occupied countries. Second option list the number of circles occurring in a country. Develop an intranet portal including a suite of administrative tools. The portal will contain login security features and preferences tied to MS SQL Server 2000. The suite will contain tools for automating administrative tasks, monitoring daily processes and reporting on business metrics. The suite will be supported by a MS SQL Server 2000 backend, running on middleware written in C# with a Macromedia Flash front end. Through the course of the project the students will be required to provide regular reports. They will also be required to comment all code and provide complete documentation.

Project Description

Assist a public relations practicum class in creating a website designed for public and education purposes. Public relations practium class will be working in conjunction with the Charlotte Sister Cities program and Heipei University in Baoding, China, to create two web pages. UNC Charlotte students will design a webpage, translated into Chinese, that will introduce the city of Charlotte to residents and students in Baoding, a Charlotte Sister City. Heipei students will be designing a comparable webpage that introduces Charlotte residents and students to Baoding. Both groups of students will also provide feedback to each other regarding the development of the other University’s Website. The class will be meeting 6:00-8:50pm on Wednesday during Fall 2007 semester. The project will continue into Spring 2008 semester until completed.

Project Description

The HCI will independently plan, design, and execute usability and focus groups for the J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte. The test subject is the J. Murrey Atkins Library web site (library.uncc.edu). The test focus is "how patrons find/retrieve resources they need for research." Participants should include students, faculty, and staff. The studies should go through the Institutional Review Board so the results can be published.

Expected deliverables include written observations, analysis and recommendations from each study including compilations of participant session videos (Morae) with corresponding status information. Reports and videos should omit personal participant identifiers, such as name, making the reports anonymous as possible.
