Graduation:
There are TWO forms that you
must get completed and signed:
- Application for Graduate degree/certificate and
- Application for candidacy
The graduate school needs both forms by the published deadline for you
to
graduate. It is a separate issue whether you want to attend the
commencement.
1. Application for Graduate
degree/certificate form
This is now submitted on-line, see http://graduateschool.uncc.edu/graduation/information.html
2. Application for candidacy form
This is a paper form. It is used to list the courses you are using to
satisfy the program requirements and requires departmental
approval. The graduate school will check that you have indeed
passed the specific courses. You
must list on the candidacy only the
courses you will use for your program of study (30 hours). Do not list
any other course (including internships). You must use the exact course
numbers of the courses you took. For example, if you took
a 8xxx course as a PhD student, and are using it as the equivalent 6xxx
course, you list the 8xxx course. Similarly, if you have taken a
cross-listed course as ITIS xxxx, you list the ITIS xxxx course.
You must have a GPA of 3.0 on the courses you list to graduate. (Your
transcripts will show the GPA based upon all the courses you have
taken. See http://coitweb.uncc.edu/~abw/MSprogram/program_policies.html#GPA
for more information on how the GPA is computed)
The form needs
the signature of the Computer Science MS program director.
Submit the form to Dora Bradley (Woodward 421A) for approval at least
72 hours before the published deadline, together with completed degree
requirements check
sheet that indicates your core, breadth, concentration, and elective
courses.
After you obtain the program director's signature, you are to take the
form to the
graduate school yourself.
Students must be registered in the semester that they graduate. If for
some valid reason, they completed their coursework and did not
graduate, they can register for 1 hour ITCS 7999, but students with
visa issues must also contact the International Office.
