Prerequisites:
Graduate standing in CS, SIS, ECE or Optics and a prior course in networking.

Course Content:
The course provides an overview of mobile systems and wireless networking technologies. Emphasis will be on different wireless and mobile systems and basic resource management, routing and quality of service at the MAC and networking layers. Students will also survey the research literature and give a presentation on one selected research paper in wireless communication and networks.

Tentative Course Outline:

The following topics will be covered as time permits:

Grading:
There will several written homeworks,
1 in-class presentation, a midterm exam, and a final exam. They will count toward the grade as follows:

            Homework                     30%
            In-Class Presentation  
     15%
            Midterm                      35%
            Final Exam  
                20%

However, the instructor reserves the right to make adjustments to these weights based on his a posteriori evaluation of the relative difficulty and fairness of the exams and homework.

Course Policies:
1) Class attendance is a responsibility of each individual. If a student chooses not to attend class, he/she is responsible for any handouts, announcement, and contents of missed lectures.
2) There will be no make-up exam. Students who cannot attend an exam with health emergency must show official proofs.
3) Assignments are due at the beginning of the class. Assignments will be graded and solutions will be provided. Late assignments are not accepted and will have a grade of zero.
4) All assignments are assumed to be an
individual effort unless otherwise specified by the instructor.
5) If you end up doing poorly in the class, please DO NOT ask for "extra work" to raise your grade. This would not be fair to other students.
